Lumen Parfums

A small perfume house in Lisbon wanted bottles that feel like the light in the old town at six in the evening. We built a name, a mark and a range of boxes around one idea: a single beam of light across a dark object.

The challenge

Lumen had five scents, a good nose and no visual identity at all. The perfumes were sold in plain lab bottles with printed stickers, which worked at markets but not on the shelf of a concept store next to houses with a hundred years of history. The new brand had to look established on day one, without pretending to be something it was not.

The approach

We started with the light, not the logo. Every scent got its own time of day, and the packaging uses one printed beam that moves across the box from morning to night. The wordmark is drawn from a narrow serif, spaced wide so it survives being foil stamped at eight millimetres. Black uncoated board, one warm foil, nothing else.

The outcome

The first edition of 600 boxes sold out in nine days, and two concept stores in Paris and Copenhagen now carry the range. The system was built to grow: a sixth scent was added in spring without a single new design decision, only a new time of day.

Noa understood our perfumes before smelling them. People keep the boxes.
